I'm looking into designing plywood shear walls considering the shear wall aspect ratio limitations.

I see in SDPWS 2008, that I apply a reduction of 2b/h to those shear walls that have aspect ratios between 2:1 and 3.5:1, but can I apply the reduction for just the shear walls that have aspect ratios between 2:1 & 3.5:1, or do I have to apply it to all the shear walls in the shear wall line if one or more shear walls in that line are between 2:1 & 3.5:1?

Any answers are much appreciated.

Thank you very much for your quick reply.

So, from your comment, I can just apply the reduction to the individual walls that have aspect ratios between 2:1 & 3.5:1, and I don't have to apply it to those shear wall that have an aspect ratio less than 2:1 even if they occur within the same line. Is that correct?

Each wall in the same line is subject to that ratio, and if between 2:1 and 3.5:1, the nailing must be increased accordingly in each wall to have the same effective shear capacity as the walls that are 2:1 or less. Hopefully that is clear?

Yes, that works.

Thank you very much for your help.
