i've hired an instrument and they've supplied an optical plummet, i've always used a laser one, which is more acurrate? i appreciate that lasers struggle in the sunlight! so should i get them to change the tribrach?? or stick with the optical one??

Stick with the Optical one. You will be able to work better in Day Light Hours. The Laser is hard to see. Besides, you measure a distance from your known elevation to the dot on the side of the gun, input the info and off you go. Besides, how accurate do you need to be?
