Hello,

In accordance with BS 5353, API 6D, API 599 etc. plug valves can be purchased as regular, short or venturi pattern. Which pattern is best to use as the last / throttling valve on a pipeline vent?
Thanks very much

MC

These different types are generally differentiated by the port and torques which you may want to consider. Regular pattern valves have full area seat ports. Venturi pattern valves have reduced area seat ports. Operating torques are lower for venturi pattern plug valves. What medium/pressure/temperature are you dealing with?

My focus: Alloy Valves Duplex Valves Monel Valves Inconel Valves [link titanium-valves.com]Titanium Valves[/url] Hastelloy Valves

Thanks hsbcn,
The fluid is natural gas at 8MPa. Because the vent will be to atmosphere the valve temperature can drop to -50 deg C. The max. design temp is 80 deg C.
