I am using two PLC-5/80 as a redundant processors that is processing 7 SLC-5/04 I/O data through Channel 1A on the PLC-5 via DH+ communication. Also, Channel 1B is processing 3 remote I/O racks via ControlNet I/F module. And the communication between the PLC-5 CPUs are also ControlNet as well. A HMI package is communication to the PLC-5 Channel 0 via the Ethernet.
I would like to ask for help if someone out there had done a similar set up ? any help in terms of how to configure this system would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am quite surprised that no one has done this magnitude of a project before…??

I am sure we have, but I think it take me three days to type up all the configuration in each PLC. Have you drawup a "NETWORK" map of which commuincation protocal is connecting to which PLC? I'd start there first and define all the communication paths to each PLC.

As far as the rest, Remote I/O is pain, we'd need to know if you have 1/4 rack, 1/2 rack, or full rack I/O and then you have to configure that information in the PLC5.

Good luck
