Plating mild steel for corrosion resistance from drinking water

Can anybody recommend a plating for mild steel to best prevent corrosion from drinking water? Temperature will rise to 150 deg C.

About 3 Kg

For R&D so only small quantities.

I would also like it to look good too. Nice and shiny.

Considering electroplating by nickel or zinc.

Sorry if I misled but the water coming out of the system doesn't have to be potable. I will simply be using tap water which doesn't have corrosion inhibitors and maybe a little chlorine.

I simply wish to reduce corrosion and enhance looks in the short term.

Nickel will be better than zinc at that temperature. Electroless nickel may be a better option than electroplated nickel, depending on the part shape, etc.
 
What would the purpose of this be?

Could you use something like aluminum instead?

 
Silcolloy 1000? Excellent corrosion resistance and will look the business.
 
Ditto TVP, electroless nickel will give better results. You may also want to try hot galvanized with a urethane clear coat for a unique look.

It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all.
