Platform mooring tensioning

I have a product development problem. I need to know what are typical procedures to control the tension of moored structures, regardless of how they are moored (chain, wire rope...).

Is tensioning only necessary during installation or is there a need for more or less regular maintenance or even for constant adjustment?

I am trying to decide if it is a good idea to invest (rather limited) time and money developing a particular hydraulic system to provide 1,000 metric ton and more tensioning force.

Thanks Gerhardl. I am thinking more like the Bardex solution, linear chain jacks for SPAR mooring. The working cycle for those is what I would need...
