Plastic Materials for Impact Loads

I am developing a product that must withstand impact loads. I need a plastic injection moldable material that can withstand these type loadings. Any suggestions will be helpful.

Check with the manufacturers of rubber bumpers for vibration isolation support of equipment (air conditioners, electric motors, motor mounts) and bumpers - you may find many at the Thomas Register. Bumpers are routinely used for transportation equipment and facilities.

I work in Automtive lighting but in general one of the most impact resistant materials we use is polycarbonate (for headlamps). Another material is ABS which is pretty impact insensitive but a much weaker material that PC. I would begin looking at Izod test imformation for ABS since it is very cheap, then if you need to, go to a material like PC due to it's cost. If you do look up Izod information make sure the test samples are all the same thickness i.e. typically done in ISO standards not ASTM.

As a correction to my above comment Izod testing has different notch styles to be concerned with not so much specimen thickness. Thickness is more a concern when reviewing heat related deflection tests...OOPS!
