PJP groove welds

We have a WPS certified to ASME sec IX for welding P1 G1&2 materials with a thickness range on groove welds of .125" to 1.0".
Could we use this WPS to weld a 1.25" thick plate onto a 1" plate if the 1.25" plate only requires a PJP groove weld?
