When we apply the exhaust force reaction the most vulnerable part of the PSV installation is the reducer to flange connection at the inlet and outlet side. This is aggravated more for two reducer systems where the size change is quite substantial. I have seen Pipers giving a short spool to help reduce the STRESSES between the reducer and inlet side flange? But then there may be a trade-of with ACCESS. Say for example PSV size be 6P8. The piping on the inlet side is 12inch and outlet side being 14inch. Besides, the client for safety has added TWO isolation valves on the inlet side.
In such cases what may be a way out?
Thanks in advance,

The way out is to pass the problem on to someone who knows what they are doing.
