pipeline toolbox software question

if my live grade load is not a wheel load how do I do it on pipeline toolbox?

I only have the option to input the wheel loads but not the size of the wheel.

say I want an area load at grade at 5'x5' say 1000psf, how do I do it on this software?

I really don't think you can. API 1102 uses a 144 sqin ( 1 sq ft) wheel contact area but the formula and graphs relate to a load on that area, not a large superimposed load.

however 1000 psf is 50kPa or 5 tonnes per sq m. If the load is really a uniform spread out load that isn't that big a figure.

If it passes a wheel load of 10,000 lbs it should be good for 1000 over a larger area.

A bigger issue is settlement and shear loads if the ground compacts under the load and remains as is on the unladen part. You need to get a geotech assessment of the area.

unfortunately, i don't know how to account for that.
the pipeline is already existing and we are just adding a surface load and checking if the pipe is still good.
both pipeline toolbox and the excel from CEPA don't account for that settlement or bending of pipe along it's length.

how do i proceed for this. i guess i will have to put a disclaimer the bending or settlement of pipe along it's length has not been considered.

how do you design the pipeline considering both the surface load and the longitudinal bending and settlement.
i can only think of using caesar undergound pipe modeler but not sure if i can add grade surface load at caesar for underground pipeline.
