I am looking to find a company who provides above ground Magnetic Tomography Survey for a buried Transmission Pipeline. Can you suggest some company who provides the service?

I think you mean that you want to "run an intelligent pig inspection device through your buried transmission pipeline".

I trialled the Stress Concentration Tomography (SCT) version of Large Standoff Magnetometry (LSM) technology from a UK based vendor (Google it) as opposed to the Russian vendor (Google it) about 10 years ago on an onshore gas pipeline.

The idea (hope) was to compare the SCT results with reliable conventional ILI data to see (hope) if there was any meaningful correlation as input to decision making on setting next conventional
ILI inspection due date. The line was pressurised sufficiently to generate stand off signals in line with the vendors recommendations. SCT produced data with a sky high false call rate (compared to ILI) and no real correlation so an outcome was my feedback to the vendor of “thanks but no thanks”.This was I stress 10 years ago but no aha moment out there since then in any credible conference or paper etc that I have seen.
I remain in a (bumpy) place where the only proven method to inspect a pipeline “end to end” for metal loss and other features that might present a threat to integrity remains in line inspection by intelligent / smart “pig” (scraper?)

1503... they have pig 'trackers'? Wasn't aware of it, but it makes sense and they can emit a fairly strong signal.

Yes. They finally realised that they were not only useful for sharks, elephants and whales.

Trackers were not needed with the old style pigs; a huge knot of barbed wire, 'cause you could hear those run by at quite a distance.

Hi all,

yes, there are couple of non-intrusive magnetometry pipeline survey tools like SCL, NCM in the market but the Client wants only the MTM (Magnetic Tomography Method).
I guess Petronas and few other asian, middle eastern companies have used it but is not very popular in the West.

Transkor - a Russian company had developed this product.

Against my better judgment I will answer and have some very limited experience with this (also in Canada). There is a company out of France called Skipper NDT that uses this, and they subcontract through a Canadian company called Global Raymac. I have dealt with them a little, they have some good people. As far as the technology itself, use for very high level screening only, and probability of identification (of what it is actually detecting is low), only way to know is to dig it up. I don't know what your specific use is, anomalies in pipe, detection of elevated stress areas, etc., I may be able to comment further. They have advanced to putting this technology on drones now, no need to drag or wheel it over the ground. Good luck.
