Pipeline hot and cold end

What is a pipeline "hot end" and a pipeline "cold end"?

Without anything else to go on Hot end means the section of pipeline which is hot, normally next to the compressor or wellhead and cold end means the other end when the contents have cooled down by the soil or seawater.
