What is the distance between pipeline for (natural gas) and buildings that is applied in USA? My name is Aleksandra and I am Mechanical Engineer from Serbia. I am working in Innovation Center at Faculty of Mechanical Engineer in Belgrade. If someone knows which standard I need, please help :)

B31.8 for gas pipelines.

Absolute minimum distance between pipe and any foreign object is 12". That's small. Make it farther away if possible.

You should also be able to download CFR 49 Part 192 from the US Department of Transportation for free. B31.8 was developed from the US Code.

Or vica versa.

Mea culpa BigInch. Agreed. The 1968 Edition of B31.8 was the basis of the first edition of Part 192 in 1970.

And no matter the distance; the contractor putting in the second line, with damage the first line.

And here's the link to 49 CFR Part 192:
Note that this is the 2010 version. The 2011 version will be published sometime in October.

Thank you all for information. I hope that I will find it there :)

If you don't, it's 12 inches.

Looks to me that 200 meters is a good number, or 100 meters and accept the 'bump' up from Class 2 to Class 3.
Para 192.5

No, number of buildings within distance x is for determining class location factor. A gas line can pass right next to any building, or any other foreign structure, or object, as long as it is not closer than 12".
