Can anyone elucidate me on the equation for bearing stress of onshore pipelines over the supports? The equation I have is missing a couple of signs and I am not sure which signs. I have been unable to find this exact equation in the ASME B31.4/.8 Codes. Any help will be appreciated.

One location for that equation is in AWWA M11-2004 equation 7-1; page 72

Scs = k[P/(T^2)]ln(R/t)

where k = 0.02 - 0.00012(A-90) [contact angle factor]

Roark 7th Edition, Table 13.3, Case 8 will give good fundamental guidance.
MW Kellogg, Section 2.3 will also add a bit

...and if you could get your hands on "Tubular Steel Structures, Theory & Design", by MS Troitsky, theres a good section on support of above-ground pipelines. But also largely references the above.
