I am constantly running into problems with designing for external piping loads on small to medium sized thin walled tanks (30-40' diameter by 1/4" plate). They never meet the R/t requirements for API Apex P nor WRC 537. Is there a good solution to this problem? We typically do FEA which is not a great economic solution.
