I am designing pipe racks and their foundations to support an overhead material conveying system. The racks are approximately 35 feet tall and are located outside in a 90 mph wind zone. Due to site restrictions, the racks will be spaced approximately 70 feet on center.

The racks are essentially braced steel frames, each comprised of two columns with horizontal and diagonal members. Horizontal members will clear-span between the top of the racks.

In looking at ASCE 7-05, I cannot tell if I should consider the racks as latticed framework or trussed towers. Since my rack is "two dimensional" (i.e. not square or triangular in shape), it seems that the latticed framework designation is applicable. Thanks in advance for any thoughts or recommendations.

The trussed tower section is intended for antenna tower or transmission tower type applications. I use the lattice framework section.

A reference I've seen excerpts from (but don't own yet) is ASCE 40262, Wind Loads and Anchor Bolt Design for Petrochemical Facilities. It appears to have charts that are much more in depth for these type of structures.
