I am looking at methods of isolating hydrocarbon (gas and liquid)lines to changeout valves. The lines are typically 24" API 5L class 600, possibly 900. What are the limiting factors which I need to consider for freeze plugs? i.e is proximity to the flange seal likely to be an issue, is the internal coating or roughness of the pipe an issue. If anybody has any links or suggestions I would be most grateful.
