PIC16C84/PIC16F84 Software Development on PC

I'd like to know a link where a simulator and a cross-assembler for PC can be found. Platform may be DOS, Windows 3.1, or Windows 95. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Micro Chip developed numerous simulators and assemblers for their range of micro controlers, the first were in DOS the later in windows.
The MPLAB IDE is there latest effort, windows NT/ME etc etc. See the link below:-

The good think about it is that you can use it with other assemblers/compilers. microengineering labs have a PicBasic compiler which integrates with the MPLAB program.

A while ago the programs were in DOS. Check out the following link for there DOS simulator. I used to use it a while ago, its command line stuff but very good.

Hi,

Links you wrote had helped me a lot. Currently,
I am downloading DOS version of simulator (link
is oveloaded this evening and download is very
slow, so Windows version will wait some time --
maybe "forever" if I find DOS fits my needs).

Well, I have another question: is this forum right
place for asking uP/uC questions related both to
PICs hardware and software? I do know some uP
programming (Z80, 6502, Intel x86, a bit of HC11),
but I am new to PICs.

I'm new here and don't know yet all of the local
rules.

Hi,

There is no harm in asking. I come from a Z80/6502 background. Took up 8051/ Microchip pics around 7 years ago. I can't imagine I'm the only one here. So sure ask. If you ask a 'wrong' question (a question on Power Engineering)for this forum you'll be gently guided to the right forum.
