Does anyone know anything about this type of steel. We are looking to primarily use it as a cutting tool for our martensite. I have heard it is a knife steel similar to vascowear but no one can give me any properties or basic information on PGK tool steel. Thanks for your help Mark

I had never heard of PGK as a grade of tool steel, and found only a smattering of references to this when I performed a websearch using Google ( Apparently it is used for knives requiring very high hardness and wear resistance. It is possible that this grade is known by the tradename Vasco Wear, which used to be held by Teledyne (owner of VASCO or Vanadium Steel Company). Allgheny Ludlum now owns the former Teledyne, and I saw a mention of Vasco Wear on their website ( I would recommend contacting them to find out more on this grade.
