Hello,

This question is with regards to the reinforcement calculation requirements when using a B16.47 blind flange with a centrally located nozzle.

For B16.5 blind flanges, using interpretation VIII-1-01-105, reinforcement calculations are not required as long as the opening is no larger than that listed in B16.5 Table 6.

I have taken a look through B16.47, but couldn't find an equivalent table. Is there any similar exemption size available for B16.47 flanges?

Thanks,
Marty

Hey,

I'm still trying to find an answer to this question, does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks,
Marty

marty007, I have just flipped thru my (admittedly older) copy, I do not see any such provisions. Most likely will be a custom design. This type design has been discussed previously. See, for example, thread794-338767

Regards,

Mike

Mike,

That was my fall-back approach. I was just wondering if I could get by without having to do an App 2 calc.

Thanks!
Marty
