People who have passed Machine Design course & followed Shigley's mechanical engineering design book how did you study for exams? Please provide some study strategies that have worked well for you.

So I have Machine Design course for this semester & I find it really tough. Our professor is following Shigley's mechanical engineering design book. Each chapter in this book contains 100+ maths which is nearly impossible to solve within this short period time.I have other big courses too. So I want to study those maths which have higher possibilities to come in the final exam. How do I figure out which maths to study & which one to skip? People who have successfully passed this course please share your study strategies & other resources which helped you. Thanks in advance.

Here is my college Machine Design textbook, some forty years after purchase. The author was V.M. Faires.

Note the repairs. This sits on my shelf where ever I am working, and it gets referred to regularly. Take good care of your machine design book. I recall that my Machine Design tests and exams were open book. I did not need to memorise much. I just needed to remember where to look it up.

Pay attention in class and you will have a good idea of what will come up on your tests. Memorising a bunch of equations is not a good use of your brain capacity. Hopefully, your professor is explaining how they were derived, how all this stuff works out in the real world, and the general reasoning need to solve engineering problems.
