Hello everyone,
I design pressure vessels to ASME Section VIII Div 1 code. I'm currently waiting for a design to be approved for European installation.

This is the first time I have dealt with PED code.

I've got to write a WPS for the PED inspector to witness, and the problem I'm having is that I can't find a manufacturer of filler metals that can provide a Certificate of Compliance with the necessary lot/batch/heat numbers and stating that they were manufactured to the EN code.

I'm in a hurry with this because it was an oversight on our engineering teams part.

When I question a manufacturer about the C of C, they usually reply, "Never heard of it."

Can anyone tell me what manufacturer, that would have it in stock, I can get the appropriate filler metals and documentation from?

Thanks in advance.

Try getting some European product such as Metrode or Smitweld (Available from Euroweld), Bohler-Thyssen, Sandvik, or ESAB. Regardless of whether they carry any or not, the Euroweld folk are pretty knowledgable and may be able to help you.

Here is a link to Guideline 7/10 to the PED regarding welding consumables. They do not have to be manufactured or certified to any EN standard, the level of traceability has to meet the EN standard. I have qualified procedure in the US for two different (German based) notified bodies and both allowed US welding consumables with ASME/AWS certification and marking.
