PDMWorks Worgkgroup.. Changing Revision Schemes

First off the vault was set up with a revision scheme where the name of the revisions were created as "A.", "B." "C."..etc... and without using lifcycles the names of the documents reflected their status.

Now after some planning (after the fact) a decision was made to enable lifelcycles and change the revision scheme to just "A", "B", "C",...

After checking out a part and checking it back in without any changes, pdmworks will not allow the part back into the vault stating that the revision scheme is incorrect..

The documents all carry the old designations for revision and we want to change from the A. to just the letter A

I have tried experimenting with a sample vault with this scenario and even going so far as to modify the metadata (pdmw files) updating everything to A however, when you start the vault service again it STILL shows the A. designation in the vault view.

i made the decision to try this because I noticed that windows will not allow the create of a folder called "A." it simply strips the dot off the end of the foldername.. when pdworks tries to create a new folder called A, it errors because windows will not allow this operation. (Error 50)

Has anyone had a similar experience in changing revision schemes in mis-stream?

I don't know why anyone would use "A." in the first place.
It will not let you change the recision scheme as long as there are files in the vault using any of the revision schems.
The only way I know of to fix it is to create a new vault and start over (with backed up files), or check out all files into a folder, change the vault settings to your liking, then check in all files.

Yes I know!

We have talked about this at great length and its another example of someone wanting to make the tool fit their processes instead of adapting to newer methods.. I am trying to workaround this scenario by seeing if i can trick the vault into thinking the revision are all A without the dot.. but there must be some location thats not in plain sight where this info is stored.. I tried changing all the pertinient ".pdmw" files to reflect this change, the part properties (in the vault) the local document properties, etc.. restarting the cault service.. and it still shows up with the A.

Frustrating to say the least!
