I have just upgraded my copy of SW 09 SP0.0 to SP2.0 and I'm experiencing some difficulties with PDM Workgroup.

After updating I was unable to check anything out of the vault. I tried to open PDM VaultAdmin but was greeted with the message "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed".

So I put in my installation disc and opened up the installation manager, sure enough Workgroup PDM VaultAdmin was not installed. I checked the neccessary boxes to install it and hit install. Installation went well, restarted computer, opened VaultAdmin...but I got the same message, "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed".

Now I'm baffled, Installation Manager thinks that VaultAdmin and is installed but my computer can't open it.

Has anybody else had trouble like this while upgrading? And does anybody know how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

The Vault and SolidWorks PDM/Workgroup both must be 1.0 or higher.
SP 0.0 does not work with the other.

Thanks for the quick reply Bradley. How do i update the Vault and Solidworks PDM/Workgroup to SP 2.0?

Cheers.

Just found a previous thread of yours Bradley that I think will do the trick.

Cheers.

I am still having problems with the VaultAdmin.

I have upgraded the Vault and other PDM Software to SP2.0. I can now check files into, and out of the vault.

But I still cannot access the VaultAdmin tool, I continue to get this message when I click on the VaultAdmin icon, "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed". Also, on my QuickLaunch bar and in the Start menu, rather than having the VaultAdmin icon, it has that icon that is similar to the Command Prompt icon, but with a white background.

Properties of the shortcut show that it has no target and it should 'Start In' "C:\Program Files\SolidWorks Corp\SolidWorks Explorer\". I have tried to find the Vault Admin executable file so that I can create a new shortcut, but I cannot find it at all.

Does anybody know why this might occur? And how it can be fixed?

Thanks in advance...again =P

Dave

Panic over. Found the VaultAdmin .exe file, created a new shortcut and now everything is rosey.

At first I thought this was all far too complicated, but now I see if you do everything in the right order it doesn't have to be as difficult as if you dive in head first.

Feel free to call me noob =P

But I still cannot access the VaultAdmin tool
I had the same problem after I installed SolidWorks SP2.0. I called my VAR and they showed me I had to install the software.

My question to you is:
Does your VAR not help you? I have friends in other parts of the USA that say their VAR's could take as many as 3 full days to call back.

FYI when i do service pack upgrades, quite often the shortcuts (sw eplorer, DWG editor etc) stop working, as they seem to point to a specific SP. if you find the new shortcuts in the start menu and replace then it's all gravy
