Gentlemen,
Do any of you recall a paper put out by Mr. R. E. Uptegraff back in the late 70's or early 80's concerning the source of gassing in small distribution type units being related to the location of the core ground connection. He was very active in the IEEE during these years. He also made mention of how shielding was needing on the auxillary legs of 5 limb cores due to be adjacent to the HV windings.
I recall bits and pieces of his work but if there's one of you who either knows it verbatim or where it might be archived. Some insight or a nudge would be greatly appreciated.
A colleague of mine used to work for Uptegraff some years ago and he and I were talking about this paper last week and we decided to try and do a little research and see if we could locate it.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
Google only brings up the transformer company information or old IEEE meeting minutes which dont mention it.

Mike

All IEEE or IEE(UK) papers can be checked at ieee.org site using ieee explorer.Out of more than 3 million documents there is nothing under the name of Uptegraff R E. There is one paper under Updegraff R E, but not on this subject. If you want some paper titles on this subject please search in this site "core faults in Transformers" You will get titles of numerous IEEE papers. Recently there were some papers on the subject at Doble International conferences.
