Panelview Plus

I am trying to connect a panelview plus 400 to a PLC 5/60. I can't seem to get the PLC to recognize the panelview at all. I am new at this (I've been an engineer for only a couple of months) and can't seem to figure out what is wrong. If anyone knows I would appreciate any ideas you might have. Someone mentioned updating the driver but I don't know how to do that.

Are you connecting the two units via ethernet, DH+, RIO or serial?

Sorry, that might make it easier huh? I am connecting RIO with the blue hose. I have tried it with the clear and blue wires switched, with / without the resistor, seems like everything. I don't know if it is in the panelview communication setup or with what.

I've never used the Panel view plus, but I'm guessing that the setup is similar to the plain old panel view.

1. What is the settings for the panel, rack, slot, group etc...

2. What addressing scheme is your PLC-5 set up for 1-slot (most common), 2 slot, or 1/2 slot.

3. Assuming you are using 1-slot, then you will have one input word and one output word for each of the configured slots in the panelview.

4. In most cases you will need to pass more info, such as Bit files and iNteger files, this would be accomplished via a block transfer. What is the block transfer set up in the plc?

I am setting up on rack 6 on the plc. I am sending an ascii string via block transfer write from rslogix 5 to a block transfer read inside the communication setup of rsview. I have set up an alias under the block transfer and have created a string display referencing the alias created under the block transfer to display the string. When I load the plc with the rslogix program, load the plc with the rsview program, the plc blinks saying that it doesn't recognize the panelview plus. I hooked it up to a panelview 600 and it recognized that. I thought it might be the panelview plus module, so I have had that replaced without any luck. Any other thoughts?

1. Is the baud rate correct? There should be a Remote I/O Properties screen in the PV+ setup menu.

2. The RSLinx Enterprise configuration must be correct. It is downloaded to the PV+ as part of the runtime application. Be sure to check 'Replace communications' in the transfer utility, when you download the file.

The baud rate is correct...Thanks. I finally got ahold of a rockwell tech who knew what he was doing and helped me until we got it working. It was a problem referencing the aliases to the correct tags. The PLC is now communicating! Thanks for all of your help.
