I am looking to purchase some USB Flash drives for use with the USB port on Allen Bradley PanelView Plus HMIs. I asked the local rep if there was a "special" AB flash drive that I had to use to make use of this port, he replied, "No. But not all flash drives work either." Of course you can imagine my next question was which ones work? Unfortunately, He was unable to give me a difinitive answer.

It would be way easier (and cost effective) for me to write the program, load the runtime file to the USB drive, and give that to the service techs rather than send them with a laptop every time.

I need model numbers.... Please Help!!!!

I think the Allen Bradley rep may have just been covering his butt with that response. As soon as they said any USB flash would work, you could find one that didn't.

I would stick with a name brand drive. They are relatively in-expensive now too. It may be difficult to find model numbers that people have used on an AB machine.

Devices can be 'choosy' about USB flash drives.

Below are two lists; one of USB keys known to work with another manufacturer's device; the 2nd list of those USB keys known not to work with the same device.

Let it be clear that listing these flash drives in no way implies that these models will or will not work with the A-B panel cited in the OP post.

The lists below are just indicative of the fickle nature of devices that use USB flash drives.

The sad thing is that USB keys are like underwear.. They change dang near weekly! In a year most of these will have been retired and something else will be replacing them. Very annoying.
