panel view connection

Does anyone know if I should be able to interface directly with a AB panelview 550 via a 1747 pic when the panel view is not connected to anything else other than a 240v power supply .
I have bought one to have a play about with and am having trouble connecting to it?

Do you actually have a pic module or just using the 1747-pic/aic+ driver in linx? I should be fine to use. If you are having issues communicating try the rs232df1 driver and autoconfig. Perhaps the port is configured df1 not dh485
