I'm using AC 2000. Is there an easy way to develope flat panels from a 3D cone. Please aim me in the right direction.
Gary

I don't know of a way to do this in Autocad, but I know that Solidworks and Pro/E both have sheet metal modules for doing exactly this type of work.

ok who took geometry in high school
ok to figure out how to make a flat sheet that when rolled = a con what do you do
Circumfrence of the bottom of the cone draw a line = to that then from the midpoint of that line draw a nother perpendicular to it at a length = to the side height of the cone and there you have it

now if you want a quicker way to do it someone could easily create a lisp to do all that for you

shadow,
Your right the example I gave is elementary. I used it to keep things simple. When you have the segments of several cones in one surface it can get messy. Just looking for a way to speed things up.
Thanks Gary
