I would like to place a mushroom emergency stop button on a stantion, necessarily away from the process equipment. To depict on a P&ID, can I have a double headed arrow on/off the page connected with dashed line to a YS dcs bubble connected to a HS local bubble? This would be shown as independent of the equipment motor. The arrow has the dcs cabinet number inside. Other ways?

If it is associated with equipment, consider locating the HS bubble on the P&ID next to the equipment. Otherwise a "bubble in space" works. Use a note to describe the location such as 50-foot from pump, exit gate, etc. Place a reference to the note at the HS bubble.

Some systems like area fire and gas or ESD buttons may justify a separate P&ID with "bubbles in space", tables for the associated equipment, tag numbers, etc.
