Overhead Cable Ampacity

If you are looking for a program that is designed for bare overhead distribution conductors, there is a basic program included with IEEE 738, but it is DOS based.
I found one that requires you to have AutoCAD at: I guess it is a module that you use with AutoCAD.
There is one other program I found out there called ThermCap. Their website is located at and it says it uses the IEEE 738 methodology. This one looks to be a stand-alone program for windows operating systems.

Try they have software called PLS-CADD/LOADS that performs thermal ratings of OH line conductors. Also the old Westinghouse T&D Manual goes through calculations using Schurig and Frick formulas to determine thermal rating of bare OH lines.
