Overexcitation on Synchronising with Decs300

We are recommissioning a genset in a different location. It has a Basler DECs300 on it. Excites fine, good voltage control off line. As soon as we sychronise we go out on OEL Altered the hi set time but same effect. Can anyone shed light on possible causes? Other than trying to adjust the Hi OEL trip time no other setting changed.

Is it going into a different mode as soon as the breaker closes, like VAR or PF control? Is the field output actually going up or is it tripping on OEL without going to a high field output?

Have you you set up the datalogging and event recording to see if they can give any more details? Usually when something is happening quick I've found the built in event recorder very helpful.

I would guess if it's the same genset and same settings that likely something on the input wiring is likely nor working correctly, like the parallel contact, preposition ( if the preposition setting is quite a bit different than actual line voltage)or could be going into FCR mode. Had one a few months ago that the Raise input was hanging, so could be something like that too.

Most of my experience is with DECS 200, but have helped with a couple DECS 300's and found a lot of the ocntrol functions were similar enough so I was pretty comfortable working with it.

So either try it again with the datalogging setup to capture what you think may contribute, of try it in FCR (manual) and make sure there isn't something else going on as a result of the move and/or reinstallation.
