I am trying to calculate the output torque of a reducer based on the the input horsepower. For instance the Dodge gear book tells me that at 1750 input RPM a Size 200, 30:1 gearbox has an output torque of 624in-lbs with a .83 input horsepower. If I use a std 3/4 hp motor what would be the actual output torque taking gearing inefficentcies into account?

Look in the back of your Dodge book in the engineering section.

Hp = Torque (lb-in) X RPM / 63025

Hp is a linear function of torque and rpm, so you can scale the output torque by taking the ratio of .75/.83 and multiplying by the rated output torque.

hi
please for the same inlet speed
power1/power2 =torque1/torque2
.83/.75=624/t2
t2=624*.75/.83
torque in 2nd case is 563.86 in.ibs
with best regades
