Hi All,

I would like to know how the following formula is derived.

H = F + T1 +T2 (1 + 2P/D)

Is any one good in mathematics, who can help me in understanding how these formula is derived?

Thanks for your time

It is quite easy to calculate (with some fundamental knowledge of geometry and arithmetics), but it is much harder to present.

Madhu454,

I said it was hard to present how the formula was derived, but I decided to try anyway.

Look at attached pdf. First page is showing my thought process for deriving 'classic' fixed fastener positional callout formula. I presented it just because very similar approach was used for finding the formula you were asking for.

I am sure there are also different ways to get to the same result.

pmarc,
Nice work, a star for your effort.

Hi Pmarc,
