I'm looking for any guidance on some concept level costing for gas compression stations in the 15-25MW (20-30,000 HP) gas turbine driven complete greenfield stations. It's been a while since I did something like this so my cost base is probably out of date.

This is pipeline compressors pumping dry clean gas in the 70 to 100 bar range using gas turbines, after coolers, power generation, the complete shooting match.

It's actually going to be in Africa, but I can factor in costs from US, Europe or FSU.

My current thought is we're looking in the 100 to 150 million USD range for the total for 15 to 25MW gas compression.

But if you've got generic costs/MW just for the GT driven compressors that would be OK as well.

I don't have too many details and some I can't divulge at this point, but hope this in enough info to get some idea if I'm in the right ball park.

Thanks

LI

Hi LI,

In a past work I made some estimates for total CAPEX of a natural gas processing plant. One of the references I got puts a 19,6 MW centrifugal compressor at $11.879.394,00 and $2.375.879,00 for a 3 MW centrifugal . It doesn't specify if they are turbine driven though. This is for an year-basis of 2005 (2005 Cost index: 468,2; 2017 Cost Index: 567,5). US Gulf Coast.

Sorry not being able to furnish a more specific value for your application but I hope those numbers help you.

LittleInch,

I think the estimates by Daniel are not too much off the mark.

Some main cost factors to consider:
- Gas Turbine: Heavy duty or Aero-derivative ?
- Standard or DLE combustor (stringent country regulations)?
- Pipeline compressors: Pipeliner type or barrel type ?
- Standards: Majors/Big EPC's overlay of requirements?
- Ambient conditions: desert w/ high ambient temperature or not?

I would tend to say ~13 MM Eur. (at 2011 rates) seems a good estimate.
That would include aero-derivative, barrel type compressor, overlay of specification, and desert conditions to factor in.

transmission companies use $/hp figures. in 2012, that figure was $2500/hp. not sure about today, but the publication pipeline and gas journal would often publish transmission line projects and include miles, # of compressor stations, and cost. see:
good luck.

Prices would go up for waste heat recovery (from compressor turbine exhaust) to drive power gen turbines, if there is some focus on CO2 emissions reduction.

If you have access to this book:
At chapter no. 21, there is complete section dedicated to equipment costs, multipliers for installed costs, etc.
The figures are outdated but it is a basis and you could correct for inflation.

Maybe it helps.
