I would like to know how some of you CATIA V5 users out there are doing machining at assembly. I would like perform operations at the Product level in a way that does not send the operations back to the CATPart.

To explain a little better what I mean here is an example.
I have a CATPart that is nothing more than a plate. The plate gets assembled together with other CATParts into a CATProduct. Now at the CATProduct level I have to drill a hole. I don’t want the hole to show up on the CATPart because there is a CATDrawing linked to it and I don’t want the manufacture of the CATPart to place the hole in the Plate.

I have an idea of a work around but it involves creating an extra CATPart (a raw CATPart) and some “Cut Paste Copy Special, As result with link”. It won’t be pretty when I get done and I’m looking for some other ideas.

Thank You in Advance
