Hi all,Can someone please tell me the angular limit between a flat and pitched roof as defined by the OBC, or maybe the National Building Code?I'm told that in the US it is up to and including 5 degrees. Is it the same in Ontario? Thanks.

Is this a roofing (ie membrane) question?

The OBC differentiates between slopes of 1 in 3 or greater vs. slopes less than 1 in 3 for the application of asphalt shingles. There are also many references for roof slopes ranging from 1 in 50 to 1 in 3 related to roofing types and slope limits. Refer to section 9.26 of the OBC for Slope Limits related to Roofing Types.

If it is a structural issue you are referring to, there would be virtually no difference between a roof of say ... 2 degrees, 5 degrees, or 10 degrees.
