Are you aware of the existance of reliable online courses about geotechnical engineering and foundation engineering, or related subjects? One colleaugue in Italy just asked me about that, but, though regularly surfing the dedicated sites, I never saw publicized anything similar.

Do you mean like university courses? Or short courses?

Short ones mainly, although it would be interesting to know if any university courses (at the master degree level)are scheduled as well
 
A friend of mine is close to completing his Masters Degree in Geotechnical Engineering from UMR. He did it all via distance learning. He is in Michigan. He was very pleased with the coursework.
 
Many of the FHWA's documents are in reality short courses (the driven pile book is one of them.) They also have a Soils and Foundations workshop as well, but they haven't put this out as a downloadable document (Pile Buck used to publish this.) Arnold Verruijt's textbooks could be used this way as well. These can be found at
