I am curious about the old style way of designating steel sections...in particular, I am evaluating floor loads in an old bldg in Buffalo, NY, and the sections called out are:
21 WF 68
21 B 49
I can only assume the first number is the depth, WF is 'wide flange' and 68 is the weight per foot. However, 'B' is something with which I need help. I have a 1947 AISC Manual and a 1967 Manual to help me and the B shapes are Light Beams. The 21 B 49 is not in there. Help! Thanks in advance!!
