Hi fellows

A question about old steel shed certification. How can I find out the steel capacity under corrosion.

Thank you.

If corrosion is significant, determine the residual section and calculate capacity. This would require removal of the corrosion (possibly by sandblasting) and measuring the thickness etc of the elements.
If the corrosion is not much more than surface rust it could be ignored I think.

A question like this which is not directly related to an AS could be posted in the 'structural eng other topics' forum eg, where you would get a lot more replies.
