I need to get (hopefully online) specifications for old steel beams from the 1920's. For instance spec's on a 20B59. I have structural drawings but I don't know what the beam spec's are. Thanks

Davides,

Please jump to the structural engineering other topics forum and check out the frequently asked question section there. I posted a FAQ response on old steel sections some time ago. In summary, you need to get a hold of a AISC publication that details steel section properties from 1858 to 1930s. What you'll find is that many different steel mills had different (albeit close) section properties. Thus you can't count on a similar section made during roughly the same time period...

Pardon me, that was approx. 1870s to 1950s not the time frame noted in my first post.
