Hi to all,
As a new ABQ user, I have a problem in obtaining stiffness matrix terms (6EI/L2, 12EI/L3, etc.) for a beam.
I have modeled the beam with shell elements, however I cannot obtain the thoretical values in ABQ.
Section properties:
I section,
flanges:30cm wide x 1.5cm thick
web: 40cm high x 0.8cm thick
Area becomes 122 cm2.
Mom. of inertia is 43034.2 cm4
Total length is 300 cm
Material: Steel (E=210GPa, elastic)
Steps:
1) Unit axial displacement at end_i . (1cm displacement)
Horizontal reaction (EA/L) shoud be 8540 kN (theoretical). ABAQUS yields 8619.25kN. Different, but OK.
2) Unit vertical displ. at end_i. (1cm displ.)
Theoretical 12EI/L^3 gives 401.65 kN.
No chance to catch this value in ABAQUS. Always silly values...
Maybe some problem with coupling of nodes??? Anyone with an idea? I may readily post CAE file...
With my best regards,
