We use the same customized threads tables for in NX7.5 and NX9. When we add threads to holes in NX9, it does not recognize our custom tables unless we select the Choose From Table option. In NX7.5 after selecting the hole the system automatically reads the table correctly. Is anyone else experiencing this? Thanks in advance!

First off, it appears that you're using the 'Thread' function to add threads to an existing hole, correct? If so, why are you not using the 'Threaded Hole' feature? Second, how are you creating the original hole? Are you extruding an arc or are you creating a Hole feature and if so, are you using the 'General Hole' or the 'Screw Clearance Hole' type?

The holes are created from a linked body from a different component. It is the subtraction solid of the component. We are using the thread option.

You say that you're using a customized thread table. Have you made sure that the system is being directed to where this thread table is located? This is done by editing the thread table variable in the 'ugii_env_ug.dat' file.

Yes I checked the NX log file and the UGII_ENGLISH_THREADS and UGII_METRIC_THREADS are set to our custom thread table files.

We are using identical thread tables for NX7.5 and NX9. Did anything change?

Not that I'm aware of as the Thread (not the Threaded Hole) feature is what we call a 'legacy' function which has only remained a fully accessible feature for two reasons; it's the only tool we have for creating any sort of male thread and it's only tool for creating actual thread geometry. And as such, it has not had any enhancements or changes that I'm aware of. Note that it is slated for a general overhaul in some as yet unspecified future version of NX, so until then, it is what it is. Since you seem to saying that you're seeing a regression (you claim that it worked fine in NX 7.5) I would contact GTAC and have them look at what you're doing. Perhaps someone did tinker with the code for some reason, fixing a PR or something, and they may have introduce an error.

Is there any plan for an external thread tool, more like the Threaded Hole feature? One that propagates to drawing callouts, etc.

As I stated in my last post, there are plans to replace the current legacy 'Thread' feature with a more modern and up-to-date capability, just that it has not yet been fully committed to.
