It seems that all of a sudden, Hidden Line settings under View Style is hiding view dependent geometry (exists in a dwg view, not on the model side) when I set the font to Invisible and also pick/choose Include Model Curves. I don't recall it behaving this way in the past.

We've always added small circles in our views to indicate points - never before were they affected by this setting, but now, it's hiding them or sometimes making them only partially visible.

Did these changes in behavior occur after installing a new version of NX and/or an MR/MP? If so can you supply a sample part from an older version of NX where this didn't happen?

John,

I just noticed recently after migrating to NX8 - unfortunately, I'd have to sift through hundreds of drawings and try to find one last saved in NX7.5 or earlier.

I was hoping you might want to test out my claim since you typically have older NX versions available to you. It's very important to make some of the geometry model-dependent while other is only view dependent, if you are able to test it out.

An easy example would be a cylinder with a hole through it and on the model side, place/project a label outline onto the outer face of the cylinder. Create a view or project enough views to hide the label (partially or fully). Finally, expand a drawing view and add a small circle at the center of each end of the cylinder to represent the center points of the hole breaking through. Set the view style to make hidden lines invisible and include Model Curves. The goal is to see the small circles completely but have the label be rendered partially or fully hidden (depending upon the viewpoint).

Whether or not this is the case, one would think the wording itself might lend to some confusion, since view dependent geometry isn't truly a model curve.

Thanks for whatever help you may be able to provide.

Hi Tim...

We had the same issue when transferring from NX7.5 to NX8.5.

This issue is due to the view style. specifically the new Exact and Smart lightweight views. iIf you place your views with the exact pre- NX8 or lightweight setting (In style) then it should be gone.

Siemens Gtac said:
The issue has to do with the view types "Exact" and "Smart Lightweight", which is probably why it happens on some drawings but not others.
There is an existing PR1947151 about this which development currently seems to be working on. At the moment the only work around is to
create the view as an "Exact (Pre-NX 8.5)" view type instead. Then the view dependent edits are still showing.
I'll go ahead and connect this IR to the existing PR.

nutace,

Unless I'm missing something else, I'm on NX8 not NX8.5, so all of my views would be pre-NX8.5. I don't see any options for Exact and Lightweight views in the View Style dialogs.
