Hello,
Probably right in front of me but for the life of me I cannot find create box in nx10 and command finder isn't showing me. The nx10 what's new doc says it's available with mold wizard, die design and electrode design but I seem to recall using it in 9.0.3 without those add-ons. Any thoughts?

do a customise and the search in all commands for create box.

Didn't we have a thread here where somebody had discovered that one has to have Moldwizard installed, ( even without the license for moldwizard) for the feature to work.?

Printscaffold, There is an old Grip program that creates a block around whatever model, and maybe there is a .vb which does the same. None of these 2 will do it with associativity.

I have an old copy of that gripprogram. I think that there might exist modernized variants of it.

Tomas

Yes, Moldwizard needs to be installed I believe

Sorry for the delay getting back to you all; I started the thread and left for the day. I keep forgetting I can use Search in the customize dialog; thank you! Yesterday when I was using Command Finder from the main window it returned create box twice in the results. Neither of them worked but today one of them works so perhaps yesterday I just needed to restart NX. I also thought I needed mold/die/electrode design but now it appears we don't need any of those add-ons to use create box. I do not use it very often but it comes in quite handy sometimes. I also have a very old journal which creates a bounding block but it isn't as exact create box so I never used it much.

Thank you all for the input!

The Create Box command was originally part of Mold Wizard.
It has been updated to a true modelling feature, is available in modeling, and will soon be available in CAM also.

If you have NX9.0.3 or upwards you don't need the MoldWizard license.

is a video I made demonstrating how it works and how to find it.

If you have access to SNAP, you can get the bounding box of any curve, edge, face, body, or component using its "box" property. The property returns a SNAP.Geom.Box3d object. See the SNAP Reference Manual for details and example code.

Is it possible to have the bounding box generate numbers like this?

Rob, i think that you need to add these as measurements after creating the box.
If this is a very frequent option, a box and three measurements, you should be able to either create an UDF or a "reusable object".

Tomas

"Show Dimensions" has been added for NX 11.

Pretty sure that the search box in the customise dialog is in NX10 only.
