Hi all,

I was experiencing a rather frustrating issue with other software yesterday, and took a large number of troubleshooting steps to resolve it.
Today, I'm finding that NX 8.5 is giving me this error:
URL]

I've tried using LMTOOLS to reread the license file as suggested in a few other threads, and it give me a "Reread Server Failed" error.

I don't remember all of the steps I took yesterday, but here are a few that I believe may have cause the issue:
- Reset many Windows 7 options to default values
- Firewall/Control Center disabled/re-enabled/generally fucked with
- Computer name changed
- Many programs left over from previous user uninstalled

I'm currently in the process of undoing/resetting as much as possible, but I figured I'd post here too on the chance that someone could point me in the right direction to begin with.

Cheers!

The "Computer name changed" could do it.

Right you are, John! Easy fix. Very glad I documented the original gibberish name - not a chance I would have remembered it otherwise.

To anyone else with this issue in the future: NX will still throw an error after reverting. You'll need to use the LMTOOLS Utility -> Start/Stop/Reread tab -> Start Server -> ReRead License File.

I'll take the chance to thank you again for all the help you've given over the years. I started using NX in '09 and can't count the number of times a Google search has brought me to a thread with your name in it - followed closely by solution to whatever my problem was that day.
Thanks for all your contribution, for all the frustration you've saved, and for generally being a good dude!
