Recently was pushed to update my NX to the 2312 version.

In short, when I go to my assembly and activate one component and make it my "Work Part" I go to use the other components features such as edges or datum planes to insert a new point or datum per say and it automatically makes what ever referenced part I am using the new "Work Part". In my previous versions this was not the case. I do understand I can use associated copy with the WAVE linker but that seems like a lot more steps for what I need to do.

Does anyone know where this can be altered in the preferences?

Thank you in advance!!

Customer defaults -> modeling -> general -> allow automatic work part change.
Edit: forgot to mention, you'll need to restart NX for the change to take effect.

THANK YOU!!!!!! very much. I knew there had to be a quick fix, I just did not know where to look.
It seems that when we get updates, they are never set up the same.

Go To Customer Defaults, Go to Modeling Go to General and then the general tab on the right. Turn off Allow automatic work part change at the bottom. See if this works for ya.
Yup, that is exactly what cowski replied. It worked! Life is good again, lol

I think we were posting at the same time, so I deleted my comment. HA. I remember that setting well, I never understood why some defaults are set the way they are.
