NX 1957 Sketch and translucency

I have found that when I create a sketch on the face of a solid that is set to be translucent, the translucency of the face is gone while the sketch is in the task mode.
Is there a setting that allows the translucency to remain so I can see through the face the sketch is on?
If I put a plane on the translucent face and put the sketch on the plane, it works as I'd like but is an extra step.
