Hi there!

Short question:
How can I set the resolution of the animated .tiff sequenz in the Motion Simulation part of nx.

Long Version:
I'm from Dresden (Germany) and we have a quite nice machine simulation that we want to put it in the right light. Before engineering I've done some animation with CINEMA 4D. I do not know a comfortable way to export objects and animation - therefore I need to render it using nx.
Now if I have set everything like I want in the raytracer setup I go to Data -> Motion Export -> animated Tiff.
But I don't know how to change the resolution. The exported Sequence is looking good with the interal raytracer but I do need a higher resolution.

Could please help me :D?

Thank you very much :)

Your's sincerely,
Tim K.

Resolution is now ok

No Solution Found until now

What version of NX ?
Up to NX 8.5 you go to View- Visualization - High Quality Image, Pick the button Image Preferences ( the hand-Icon)
Image Size - ... ( I normally use "User defined" and enter the size in the X-Size and Y size fields.)
Resolution - .... ( see the grey "DPI" field )
Forget about the "plot quality".

In NX9 it's the same menu, but you need to use the command finder to find the High Quality Image.

Tomas

Ok I figured out how to set the resolution and the render engine. Also I have a camera animation.

If I'm now in the Motion Simulation and the Simulation player I can preview the animation. If I export it now it is rendered! But on the generated tiffs I just see the background of the Studio environment without any elements :(

Any idea about that?

can you preview the camera animation, and it shows the models ?
apart from that i have no idea on why.
Can you try export an mpeg instead of the tiffs ? ( as an attempt to find the reason, not as the final export)

mhm this is strange.

Now tiff and mpeg are working (I do now know what I did wrong) - but no motion (aside the camera motion) is visible.

The preview works perfect.

Any ideas?

Ok it seems that the new renderer can't work with an motion simulation.

That is a bit dissapointing.

Other render engines seems to work

The new "separate window" renderer ?
- I have never tried that in conjunction with Motion Simulation.
There is an option to do "screen dump exports", which is good at the trial and error stage of the setup, it gives a pretty good " preview" of how the rendered simulation will look.
It's on "High Quality Image Animation- Edit Parameters - Use hardware rendering"

Ok I think it is a bug in NX 10

When I'm running the same thing in NX 9 there is very less I can do wrong.

In NX 10 even if I do it the exact same way I can render a image sequence in the right resolution but I have no animated motion.

In NX 9 it's working.

I also opend a NX 9 .sim and reeditet so it runs in nx 10 I could EXPORT an animated .TIFF with moving parts. This is so disappointing.
I have to do all in NX 9 and we changed everything to nx 10 ...

Any ideas?

Thanks für your good help.

Your's sincerely
Tim

I do not understand, when I try the Motion simulation, the "new separate render window button" is grey, and the export works exactly as it did in NX9.
yes, it takes time to process/ export but it does generate tif images . ( Which i have to compile into some form of movie in a separate software)
Why do you have to re-do it in NX9 ?

/ Tomas
