Hi -

I would like to ask if anyone here on the board know the software "SpaceClaim".

the reason I ask is that I consider applying for a position as a cad cam consultant at our local SpaceClaim dealer.

I have over 25 years experience in Unigraphic (NX), but I have been fired after 26 years of employment with the same company.

Now I am so looking for a new job - preferably as a supporter and trainer.

There is a vacant job as cad cam consultant at SpaceClaim, and I am invited to interview. But I've never heard of this cad cam system before.

Perhaps some here on the board know the prevalence and quality at this software.

And perhaps as well known brand that is comparable to - as SolidWorks, Inventor, Solid Edge or similar.

What did you find on-line?

I remember them from a few years ago (5-6 years?), their claim to fame was direct modeling (similar to synchronous, history-free modeling in NX but may have come out first). I played with a demo version and was impressed with the capabilities. I thought they were bought out by Pro/E and the tech incorporated into the Creo direct modeling stuff, but apparently I'm mistaken. I have no idea the prevalence, but if I had to guess I'd say they are a pretty minor player. You might be able to find a user survey in a design or CAD mag (or site) to get a better idea.

I think you are right, otherwise it would of course be better if I could use my skills at our local NX seimens supplier. I've tried to "kick a door in", but I have not succeeded yet. Maybe I should try again.
